The Middle Island Civic Association will participate in the Great Brookhaven Cleanup this Saturday, April 16th. The site will be the same as last year, across from the King Kullen shopping center on Middle Country Road. Start time is 9:00 a.m. Wear sturdy shoes or boots and long pants. Although the TOB will be providing supplies such as bags, tee shirts, grabbers, etc., bring along your own gloves if you have them MICA will provide bagels. The Longwood Alliance will be also hold a cleanup that morning at Bartlett Pond Park, starting at 9:00 am. The numerous vines strangling locust trees, the rear walking path and the southern fence need to be removed. Bring gloves and clippers if you have them. Lunch will be provided. We, the Middle Island Civic Association, believe the strength of a democratic society lies in the citizens’ ability and inclination to participate in the act of governing. We further believe that in unity there is strength, and that the efforts of many may achieve results that cannot be achieved by the individual. Through our organization we encourage our representatives to be responsive to the needs of their constituents, and to preserve, protect, and foster the environmental, economic, historical, educational, and cultural amenities of Middle Island.
