December Meeting Minutes

MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 16, 2010 MICA MEETING – LONGWOOD PUBLIC LIBRARY – 7:00 P.M.

I.    Meeting was called to order by President Tom Talbot at 7:00 p.m. and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

II.  Minutes of the November 18, 2010 meeting were read and approved as written.

III. Treasurer’s Report – n/a

President’s Report/Unfinished Business:

Commissioner of Middle Island Fire Department was elected – Craig Tunjian
Island Squire – Repainted on 12/17 – Graffiti removed – Vacant gas station also repainted – Vacant law office – to be boarded up

David Clemens, Director of Longwood Public Library retiring – Reception to be held on December 21, 2010 from 3-6 p.m. – All invited

Roanoke Sand and Gravel – Application submitted to Environmental Conservation to expand

Correspondence submitted – St. Cuthbert’s Episcopal Church in Selden, N.Y. thanking Middle Island Civic for their generosity in donating to their Food Pantry

Presentation –

Annette Mannino from Island Baptist Church Food Pantry – Showed interest in obtaining property across from Compare Foods for Food Pantry

Suzanne Johnson of the Longwood Public Library introduced Donald Bayles and his wife Doris Bayles.   Slide presentation of history of Middle Island.  Bayles book was available to anyone who wished to purchase it.
