Although bad weather kept members of the Bayport Aerodrome Society from the skies, Middle Island residents did indeed gather at the Historic Marker at Artist Lake Park to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of pioneer aviator Ralph Johnstone’s altitude setting flight and landing in Middle Island.  The winds back in 1910 were probably even blustier than they were today, making Johnstone’s feat all the more amazing.  The flyover may still happen on a nicer afternoon.  Watch this site for updates.
