MICA Enjoys Saturday at TOB’s Longwood Estate Country Fair

Although wet weather canceled the second day of festivities, MICA was well repped on Saturday, September 19th at the Brookhaven Country Fair at the Longwood Estate in Ridge. The Third New York Regiment saluted us prior to their noon-time parade around the estate, which was lead by Town Supervisor Dan Panico and Councilwoman Jane Bonner, with SC Exec Ed Romaine and NYS Assemblyman Joe DeStefano marching along. They were joined at the new center stage area by Councilman Mike Loguercio — who was celebrating his birthday — and SC Historian and former Country Exec Peter Fox Cohalan, who gave a local history retrospective as we mark America’s 250 Anniversary. There were lots of colorful vendors’ booths and interesting information tables, in addition to the long time fave Revolutionary War encampment, colonial cooking and craft displays. The evening was capped off by a concert by SouthBound, held from 6-8pm. Many thanks to MICAns Larry & Kathleen Mazza, Al & MaryAnn Schick, and Dawn Nicchio for keeping Gail & Frank company at the MICA and Troop 433 tables. Special thanks to Van Johnson, Bob Kessler, Rob Van Bernewitz and James Canale for help with breaking camp, and kudos as always to event organizer extraordinaire Diane Schwindt.
