The Annual Budget Vote and Board of Education Election
will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, from 7:00 am – 10:00 pm
On Thursday, April 22, the Board of Education adopted a proposed budget for the 2021-22 school year. The budget totals $263,000,000 and carries a projected tax levy increase of 2.95 percent, under the limit set by New York State’s property tax cap.
We believe the budget reflects our commitment to providing an excellent learning environment, reinforces our responsibility to prepare the next generation in a fiscally responsible manner, and fosters an engaging learning environment in our classrooms, schools, and beyond. We are confident that the budget enables us to stay focused on the challenges we may face in the future.
In addition to Proposition One: 2021-22 Proposed Budget, residents will be asked to vote on Proposition Two: Capital Reserve Fund Facilities Improvement Program, which authorizes the district to expend funds from the Facilities Improvement Program (established on March 23, 2017) to replace the middle school gym floor due to the presence of mercury, as well as install air conditioning. Proposition Two will result in NO additional cost to taxpayers.
Residents will also be asked to vote for three board members for a term of three years commencing July 1, 2021, and expiring June 30, 2024. Candidates are listed below as they will appear on the ballot:

The budget hearing will be held on Thursday, May 6, at 7:00 pm in the Boardroom at Longwood High School. The regularly scheduled meeting will begin immediately following the budget hearing.

Where you vote is determined by your zip code, not by where your child attends school.

You Vote At: Ridge Elem. School, 105 Ridge Road, Ridge
•If Your Zip Code is 11980, 11967 or 11973
You Vote At: Charles E. Walters Elem. School, 15 Everett Drive, Yaphank
Do You Need To Register To Vote?
If you are currently registered with the Suffolk County Board of Elections, or if you have voted in a Longwood School District election in the past four years, you are already registered. If you are not sure, call the District Clerk at (631) 345-2795 or e-mail lillian.pizzolo@longwoodcsd.org.
Not Registered to Vote?
To be eligible to vote, you must answer “yes” to the following requirements:
•I am a citizen of the United States .
•I am age 18 years of age, or older, on the day of the vote.
•I have been a resident of the Longwood Central School District for a period of 30 days.
While you can Register to vote at any of the locations listed you can only vote at the Elementary School designated by zip code as your Polling Place.
Absentee Ballots will be provided to district residents who cannot personally appear because of illness or physical disability, or who are out of the county due to business, studies, or vacation.
