Rt 25 Repaving Still Set For This Year!

With dwindling resources and mounting bills everywhere, we are all concerned about our Main Street, Rt 25. MICA recently wrote to Theresa Santoro, the Governor’s SC rep, who attended our last civic meeting. She sent the following

“Some good news from DOT: NYSDOT’s repaving project PIN 081003 on NY25 between Mt. Sinai-Coram Road and Wading River Road was recently awarded and the work is scheduled to begin this summer. We anticipate having this pavement work completed by the Winter of 2020, weather permitting.

In addition, below are updates on some items asked about at the February civic meeting.

1. Traffic light at Currans Road and Route 25: this was issued in the traffic signal requirement contract on 10/17/19.
2. Light at Route 25 and Sweezey Lane was reported to be too long: DOT inspected the light and was found to have broken loops. DOT issues a work order on 2/24/20 for repair.”

This is part of an almost $23million project. Our roadway is listed first — so keep your fingers crossed! Theresa will keep in touch with us about this.
