You may have noticed the work zone signs on the Yaphank Middle Island Road. Very shortly, the county will be making changes to the road. It will be a two phase project, the first part will start at Middle Country Road and will end just beyond the traffic light at the Middle School. Sidewalks on both sides of the road will be installed, and a turning lane (south bound) will be created for traffic entering the Middle School. Phase two will see a reconfiguration of the Longwood Road intersection, this will include a turning lane onto Longwood Road and a continuation of sidewalks. More details, timeline, to come as they are confirmed.
