This year MICA is teaming with Community Housing Innovations to provide needed items for 20 men in two emergency shelters here in Middle Island. We have committed to providing new hats and gloves to these fellows for the holidays, so we need your help in collecting twenty hat and glove sets. We will also be making 20 toiletry bags with travel size deodorants, toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes ( which MICA will buy in bulk.) If you can donate a new hat or glove set or both, please bring your gift with you to the December 17th MICA meeting at LPL. We will be holding our annual “Wrap Session” around 8pm (after some regular business and a brief presentation at our normal start time of 7pm.) Naturally monetary donations are always welcome, too, for those of you so inclined. We’ll also sneak a few goodies in with the hats and gloves, like candy canes, gum, and chapstick. We are always amazed at the generosity of our members and know we can meet this goal of sharing some much needed warmth with the less fortunate in our area. Hope to hear back from many of you soon.
