Holiday Happenings

The Middle Island Fire Department has announced its annual Christmas Tree Lighting event for Sunday, December 2nd at 7:00pm at their Headquarters on Arnold Drive.  All are welcome, so stop by to sing carols and meet Santa.

Through a mutual agreement with North Pole Enterprises and the Middle Island Fire Department, Santa will be escorted through Middle Island by the MIFD and it’s members. Don’t miss Santa as he travels about 50 miles of the 11 square miles of Middle Island Fire District on December 15th starting at 4:00pm.  Check website “MiddleIslandFD” for details.

The Town of Brookhaven will host three “Holiday Happenings” events to celebrate the holiday season. On December 1st, Santa Claus will visit the Longwood Estate as part of the annual “Santa Comes to Longwood” celebration. The event will run from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Residents are encouraged to bring their children’s letters for Santa, as well as a camera. The event costs $2.00 per child from the ages of 2 and up.

On December 7th, the Town will host its annual Christmas Tree lighting at Town Hall. The ceremony starts at 6:00 pm and will feature music and entertainment from the Town’s Talent Show winners, Michelle Ferraro Dance USA, the William Floyd High School Select Chorus, and the Rocky Point High School Singing Santas. At 7:00 pm, Santa Claus will arrive to light the tree. This event is free and will occur rain or shine.

The Town will light the traditional Menorah in the lobby of Town Hall on December 10th at 6:30 pm. Guests will be invited to enjoy hot latkes, doughnuts, and entertainment.

Residents are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to the Christmas Tree Lighting and “Santa Comes to Longwood” events to donate to the Town’s INTERFACE Toy Drive for the benefit of those less fortunate.
