Adopt-Our-Families

A message from Margaret Malloy:
Thanks to all who donated last year to the Adopt-a-Family. Your generosity was really appreciated. I have been in touch with Barbara Royce from the Thee Island Soup Kitchen and she advised that the toiletry bags/baskets we gave last year were wonderful. Gift cards are also terrific because she can pass those out to the neediest families or distribute throughout the year. Barbara tells me that they have a couple of families with children under 1 year. Therefore, baby wipes, baby shampoo, baby lotion, etc. would be helpful. Gift cards to Walmart, Target, Old Navy, King Kullen, and Stop and Shop are always appreciated.

Our next civic meeting is Dec. 20. This would be cutting it really close for us to get everything together and deliver to Barbara. I suggest that if you wish to donate, please contact me, Gail, or Tom. If you would like to just drop something off at our houses, please feel free to do so. If you prefer to call or email before you come, our phone numbers and emails are listed below. Our front stoops are fine for leaving any toiletry items or we would be happy to come and pick anything up. If you prefer to put you own basket together, that would be terrific.
Also, these items can be dropped off at MICA’s upcoming Holiday Food Drive at King Kullen on Sunday, December 2nd from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
Here are some suggested items for either men or women:
* soap
* shampoo
* deodorant
* hand sanitizer
* hand/body lotion
* toothpaste
* tooth brushes
* band-aids
* Q-tips
* Chap sticks
* toilet tissue, comb or brush
Thanks again to all of you for your generosity to those in need. Happy Holidays!
Margaret
