LPL will be open for individual patron use, but programs and meeting room reservations will be cancelled starting Sat, 3/14 thru at least Sun, 3/22 out of an abundance of caution during the COVID-19 dilemma. This means that our March 19th MICA meeting will NOT take place.
From the Longwood Public Library website:
Out of an abundance of caution, beginning Saturday, March 14, and continuing until (at least) Sunday, March 22, all library programs and meeting room reservations will be cancelled. During the coming days, this will be re-evaluated for the time period beyond March 22. We will not sell tickets for the Train Trip on April 11 at this time.
Toys, games, and hard-to-clean kits are being put away temporarily. At this time, other library services will continue as usual.
We will continue to monitor the situation regarding COVID-19, and do our best to communicate changes in services to the Longwood community. For the most up-to-date information, visit our website at longwoodlibrary.org/covid-19
The library is not giving in to panic. These cancellations are following the proven concept of “social distancing.” The idea is to keep people from spreading a disease in large crowds. Slowing the spread keeps the number of infected people lower across time. This prevents medical systems from being overwhelmed all at once, and also buys time to obtain and distribute necessary supplies.
