We received word late yesterday from Breslin Realty rep Steve Losquadro that, due to a last minute scheduling conflict, he needed to postpone the much anticipated presentation on The Meadows at Artist Lake. We discussed having the presentation at our August 20th meeting, but that is as yet unconfirmed. This delay is VERY disappointing…though not unexpected.
We scrambled for an alternative guest speaker but were unsuccessful. Board members pointed out that any other topic would be anti-climactic. We had secured an alternative meeting place — Thank you, MIFD! — if the library AC was not fully operational, but such relocations are always confusing. And we are under heat, air quality and rip current advisories (so no surfing, Dudes!)
There’s a wonderful Benjamin Tallmadge presentation at Yaphank Historical Society on Thursday night at the Swezey Avey House by our friend Rob Von Bernewitz at 7:30pm. Rob will also be talking about Tallmadge prior to the Aug 22 final summer concert at MIFD, and I’ve invited him to our November MICA meeting.
Rob also heads the LI Cemetery Restoration Group, whose work we’ll continue this Thursday morning at Union Cemetery from 10am to noon. Hope to see some of you then and there!

Representatives from Breslin Realty will formally present their plans for “The Meadows at Artist Lake,” a mixed-use development at the long-blighted former Kmart parcel on the north-side of Middle Country Road across from Artist Lake.
Because the NYS Pine Barrens Commission has determined this to be a Development of Regional Significance, we have reserved the larger Community Room at Longwood Public Library for this important discussion. The public is welcome to learn, question, suggest and comment, respectfully, of course.
