The following is a News Release from the Longwood Central School District to announce a SAFETY DRILL scheduled for Tuesday, February 19th. Note that the area surrounding the Middle School will be congested during the hours of 4:30PM to 8:30PM.

Longwood to Conduct Safety Drill with Suffolk County PD
MIDDLE ISLAND — In conjunction with Longwood School District’s comprehensive school safety program, Longwood is conducting a School Safety Drill with Emergency Responders at Longwood Middle School on Tuesday, February 19, from 4:30 – 8:30 PM.
Once again, this is a planned drill, under the control and direction of the Suffolk County Police Department. The campus will be closed, except to those directly involved in the drill. The public, press and employees will not have access to the school grounds.
Anticipate considerable activity around the school with emergency vehicles, flashing lights and blaring alarms.
It is advisable to avoid Middle Island Yaphank Rd., Middle Island, between the hours of4:30 PM and 8:30 PM on Tuesday, as the normal congestion will likely worsen.
