Town of Brookhaven Supervisor Ed Romaine was the featured guest speaker at our January MICA meeting. Mr. Romaine spoke for about 45 minutes and answered a host of questions. He met recently in NYC to maintain the town’s bond rating and said no more short term/interest only loans. He feels he has less power now than as a SC legislator because his is only one of 7 votes on the TOB Board and the Highway Dept is separate domain with its own purchasing and personnel depts. He has assigned Kevin Molly to oversee the 451-TOWN system, wants to end plastic bag use in Brookhaven, will not raise the height of the Yaphank landfill and is fighting the storage of cars at BRT.
