Monthly Meeting Notice
Our next MICA meeting will be held on Thursday, February 15th, 2018 in the first floor Clemens Room of our beautiful LONGWOOD PUBLIC LIBRARY at 800 Middle Country Road at 7:00PM. Please join us. Bring a neighbor!
A representative of Habitat For Humanity, our longtime neighbors here in Middle Island, will visit and give an overview of this worthy group’s efforts.
We will also hear from Aqeel Ahmed, owner of the Barnwood Deli, who recently filed an application with the Town of Brookhaven to reconstruct a bar and restaurant on the site of the Wellington Inn. A public hearing has been set for February 21, 2018 before the Board of Zoning Appeals; the project needs a few variances in order to situate the new restaurant exactly where the old one was before it burned down, as well as the placement of appropriate signage. Mr. Aqeel and his architect will show us drawings and site plans for the Wellington Bar & Grill and ask for our input.. We hope MICA members will be as pleasantly surprised as we were when the MICA board learned about this project late last week.
We will also elect the Nominating Committee at this meeting, in accordance with our By Laws. Three members in good standing are tasked with preparing a slate of willing candidates for our Annual Election of Officers, held at our April meeting.
Our MICA Membership Drive continues this month. Annual dues of $10 are payable in person at this meeting or via mail to MICA, PO Box 658, Middle Island, NY 11953.
As usual, SC Police Dept 6th Precinct reps will also attend and answer questions.
Remember to bring non-perishable goods for donation to local agencies for distribution to needy families in our community. Thanks!
