TOB Planning Board Places Competition Toyota/PC Richards Expansion on Decision Calendar

On Monday, December 15th, the TOB Planning Board heard the application of Competition Toyota for expansion into the old PC Richards building.  After testimony by MICA  and questions answered by the applicant about better tractor-trailer access, the Planning Board  voted unanimously to place the application on its Decision Calendar.  This is a good sign that the project will be approved.  Here is the testimony by MICA:

“Good Afternoon, Chairman Pascale and Members of the Planning Board:

I’m very happy to be here today on behalf of the members of the Middle Island Civic Association and to lend our support to this project which will re-utilize the large, empty old PC Richards building just east of the existing Competition Toyota facility on MCR

Our civic held a special meeting on Thursday, November 6th at the MIFD HQ  to learn about this project and another intended for further east on Rt 25.  After hearing about the specifics for the Competition Toyota expansion and asking a number of good questions, our membership voted unanimously in favor of the project.

Job retention and creation is an important aspect of this expansion. The Buzzetta family has long maintained a successful and quite good-looking business at their current site.  We are eager to see them transform the PC Richards property as well as update their current facility.  The fifteen foot green buffer along MCR will be an attractive replacement for the concrete that’s at the PC Richards now.  We note that all Pine Barrens Commission regulations are being adhered to with a small area of revegetation, a large area of non-disturbance and appropriate fencing at the rear of the property.

MICA is very glad that Competition Toyota is staying and growing in Middle Island.  I ask that you join us in approving these plans.

Thank you and have a wonderful holiday season, everyone.”
