{"id":894,"date":"2011-06-22T02:28:08","date_gmt":"2011-06-22T02:28:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/middleislandcivic.com\/?p=894"},"modified":"2011-06-22T02:28:08","modified_gmt":"2011-06-22T02:28:08","slug":"nys-complete-streets-bill-passes-unanimously","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/s453969799.onlinehome.us\/mica\/?p=894","title":{"rendered":"NYS Complete Streets Bill Passes Unanimously!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The NYS Legislature and Assembly unanimously passed the &#8220;Complete  Streets&#8221; Bill on Monday.\u00a0 This topic was the subject of a MICA meeting  featuring guest speaker Will Stoner, from AARP, several\u00a0months ago.<\/h2>\n<h2>From Vision Long Island&#8217;s Smart Talk:<\/h2>\n<h2><em><em>After years of advocacy and months  of intense pressure on our  state officials, the New York State Complete  Streets bill has passed!<\/em><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>Complete Streets is a policy that  designs and builds roads for all users, including bicyclists, public  transportation vehicles and passengers, motorists, and pedestrians of  all ages and abilities. The New York State bill amends the state highway  law and applies to the planning, design, construction, reconstruction  and rehabilitation of roadways that receive federal or state funding,  mandating that Complete Street design guidelines are at least  considered.
