Bachmann, Edith Lilie, Chris Hanley, Danny LaVandera;\u00a0 Also in Attendance: Jacqui Palatnik, Fred Drewes<\/p>\n<p>I. The meeting was <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Called to Order<\/span> at 7:15 p.m. &amp; the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Pledge of Allegiance<\/span> was recited.<\/p>\n<p>II. The February meeting <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">minutes<\/span> were read and approved as written on a motion by J. Stinton, 2<sup>nd<\/sup> by H. Bachmann<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>III. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Treasurer\u2019s Report<\/span>: $3191.77 in savings; $592.33 in checking<\/p>\n<p>IV. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">President\u2019s Report\/Unfinished Business:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ben\u2019s Paints was finally granted a conditional approval by the BZA; TDR on rear plot will be donated<\/li>\n<li>Lucky\u2019s Used Car Lot on Rt. 25 IS a permitted use of property; questioning safety re closeness of cars to road<\/li>\n<li>Dilapidated buildings near Prosser Pines photo\u2019d by Tom, pursuing w\/SC.; also old farm stand at #63 run-down<\/li>\n<li>MICA is registered for a booth at Longwood Day, on Sat., May 15 at Longwood HS; volunteers needed to staff<\/li>\n<li>MICA Scholarships for two Longwood seniors, amounts will be increased and awarded to MI residents only<\/li>\n<li>Library Budget Vote &amp; Trustee Election on Tues, April 13- \u00a0Budget\u00a0 Review attended by Tom &amp; Gail on Mar. 17; small increase does not involve new property; Director Clemens offering walking tour of same to MICA members<\/li>\n<li>Toyota Expansion rejected by SC Planning Bd due to nonconformity w\/MCRLUP and politics,\u00a0 now requires a super-majority vote by TOB on March 23; Tom testified at SC hearing and will represent MICA on 3\/23<\/li>\n<li>Fire-Damaged #2 Creekside Drive, supposedly \u201csecured\u201d by TOB,\u00a0 this disastrous property should be demolished\u00a0 by owner before TOB does so and bills for it; Denise reported that Waste Management will clean up on 3\/23<\/li>\n<li>Yaphank Meadows, the most recent incarnation for former Breslin 22,000 housing unit\/mega mall proposal dubbed \u201cWilly World\u201d at old Parr Meadows Race Track property &#8211;\u00a0 new owner will discuss at our April meeting<\/li>\n<li>Great Brookhaven Cleanup on Sat., April 17 will have MICA members busy at two spots, on SC parkland opposite King Kullen and nearby on Woodville Road<\/li>\n<li>Longwood Alliance \u00a0plans for Veterans Memorial expansion at Bartlett Pond Park &#8211; June 19 dedication of new monuments there; Gail explained negotiations ongoing w\/ TOB, bureaucracy working in Pine Barrens CGA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>V. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Presentation:<\/span> Fred Drewes, professor emeritus of SC Community College and member of the Heritage Trust at \u201cThe Wedge\u201d in Mt. Sinai, explained the wonderful \u201cAvenue of America\u201d project to be unveiled July 4<sup>th<\/sup>. \u201cImagine 96 national, state, territory, county and town flags displayed along a planted path in Heritage Park to represent the growth of our Nation. This beautification project will promote national pride, symbolize our freedom and nourish minds and spirits for generations to come.\u201d\u00a0MICA voted to purchase a flag in February.<\/p>\n<p>VI. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">New Business<\/span>: Report of the Nominating Committee \u2013 Frank Bailey explained the use of nominating forms by the committee: did people consent to their nomination and did they receive sufficient nominations to warrant the committee\u2019s consideration?\u00a0 Forms were mailed to all MICA members in good standing; about 15 were returned by the due date. This was the first time that the nominating committee could nominate more than one person for each office.\u00a0 Tom reminded everyone that the data is held confidentially by the nominating committee. Nominating Committee Chairman Jack Stinton reported the following nominations: Tom Talbot for President; Denise Arnold and Gail Lynch-Bailey for First Vice President; Betsey Martinez for Second Vice President; Larry Mazza for Treasurer; Margaret Molloy for Membership Secretary; and Gail Lynch-Bailey for Recording\/Corresponding Secretary. Nominations may also be made from the floor for each office during the Annual Election at the April MICA meeting.\u00a0 A person may run for more than one position but may only hold one office.<\/p>\n<p>VII.
