{"id":1308,"date":"2012-06-17T15:33:12","date_gmt":"2012-06-17T15:33:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/middleislandcivic.com\/?p=1308"},"modified":"2012-06-17T15:33:12","modified_gmt":"2012-06-17T15:33:12","slug":"new-monument-at-bartlett","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/s453969799.onlinehome.us\/mica\/?p=1308","title":{"rendered":"New Monument at Bartlett!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/middleislandcivic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/MonumentCeremony-078.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1309\" title=\"MonumentCeremony 078\" src=\"http:\/\/middleislandcivic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/MonumentCeremony-078-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"502\" height=\"334\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The new Longwood Veterans monument at Bartlett Pond Park was unveiled by Ridge resident Maria Wiener and\u00a0 Coram resident Virginia Eagle on Saturday, June 16th,\u00a0 2012.\u00a0 Mrs. Eagle is the widow of James Eagle, the WWII Navy veteran whose tale of surviving the attack on Pearl Harbor started the Longwood Veterans History Project in the late 1990s.\u00a0 Mrs.\u00a0 Wiener is the widow of Jeffrey L. Wiener, who was killed in action in Iraq on May 7, 2005. The ladies were escorted to the monument by returning service men Anthony Coluccio and Matthew Cotter.\u00a0 Bagpiper Mike Meehan, a Suffolk County Police Officer, performed &#8220;Amazing Grace&#8221;\u00a0 as the stone was revealed.
